4th May 2008 -
Olivia Worsfold wins County Cap
Olivia Worsfold became the
first Brentwood Town Ladies player – and only the 15th
player in the whole of Essex – to win a full County Cap when she played
her landmark 10th
match for the County last week.
Olivia
has played in every match of this year’s East Anglian Championship in
which Essex finished runners-up. She was made vice-captain half-way
through the season and took over as captain for the second half of the
final match as Chelmsford’s Kerri Binks went off with a dislocated
shoulder at the interval. A 2-1 victory in Essex’s last match against
Norfolk at Wivenhoe on Tuesday was not quite enough to clinch the
championship as Cambridgeshire beat Suffolk 2-1on the same night. Essex
were the only one of the six counties to take a point off Cambridgeshire
this season and finished undefeated with four wins and two draws.

OVER 100 TEAMS FOR LADIES &
GIRLS TOURNAMENT ON THE 24TH JUNE AT THE BRENTWOOD CENTRE
Over 700 female footballers from the age of 7 upwards
will descend on the Brentwood Centre next Sunday for Brentwood Town Ladies’ 10th
summer tournament.
The tournament – with mini-soccer for Under 10s and
Under 11s and 5-a-side for all other age groups – is one of the largest
exclusively female tournaments in south east England. Many top name clubs will
be represented, including West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
There are over 30 teams in the Women’s tournament which is expected to be hard
fought and there are some tough competitions lined up in the girls age groups.
“We have always believed that there was a place for an
exclusively female tournament in this part of the country”, said club President
David Worsfold, “and the huge support once again this year proves that is the
case. Our tournament is always highly praised for its atmosphere as well as for
the quality of the football played which is a great combination to have”.
All the age groups kick off at 10am and the finals are
due to take place between 2.30pm and 4.15pm.
For further information contact David
Worsfold on 01277 221445 or 07885 348982.

Brentwood Town Ladies FC was
launched in June 1999 following the merger of Brentwood Ursuline FC and
Brentwood Girls FC. The club offers football to girls in several age groups as well as
adults. We run training sessions for 8 year olds upwards and have seven girls
teams from under 10 through to under 17, all of which play in the Essex County
Girls League. Brentwood Town Ladies is the largest women's and girls club in
Brentwood and has set high standards in coaching, team spirit and behaviour.
The quality of the club’s coaching and approach to supporting the female game
has been recognised by the Football Association who have awarded us the status
of Charter Standard Development Club.
The
Club is based at the Brentwood Centre and the girls' teams train every Saturday
morning at 9:30am and play on a Sunday afternoon. Anyone wishing to join the
club should attend a training session at the Brentwood Centre.

The Club's Women's team plays in the Eastern Region Women's League and also
competes in the Women's FA Cup and the Essex County Women's Cup. The Women's
team is well established in the Eastern Region and after narrowly missing out on
promotion to the Premier Division in the last two seasons, is hoping to go one
better this year. The Women's team trains under the floodlights on Wednesday
evenings also at the Brentwood Centre from 7pm to 9pm.

We shall not fail or
falter; we shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle
nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down.
Give us the tools and we will finish the job.
